The Usual Place Cafe

Visited a gem of a café in the West some time back with my colleagues.. This quaint little café is famous for their delicious yet affordable food and beverages.. Tucked neatly away in a cluster of HDBs in Jurong East Street 31, The Usual Place is a common hangout for students, families as well as group gatherings..  This cozy lil café features wooden tables and metal chairs offering seating up to about 35 people which are always occupied..

Yuzu Mint ($4.0), a refreshing blend of citrus fruit and mint tea leaves promising to quench your thirst and leave you fresh.. The perfect drink combination for all the fatty food we ordered >0< 

Clockwise: Honey Soy Chicken ($8.9), Salted Egg Prawn Pasta ($12.9), Aglio Olio Pasta ($4.9)

Honey Soy Chicken tasted of tender and succulent chicken meat covered with thick sweet honey soy sauce while Aglio Olio garnished with garlic pieces and chili flakes keeps you hankering for more with their spicy aftertaste.. Contrary to some reviews that stated Salted Egg Prawn Pasta’s gravy as diluted, we found it thick and creamy.. And the dish is topped off with big fresh prawns cooked to perfection.. This dish is simply heavenly, but mind you, it’s better to share it as the thick creamy sauce will be too much to handle for a person alone.. 

The Usual Wings ($6.5), the chicken wings tasted quite good, as per namesake, very usual but a tad too greasy when you sank your teeth into them.. I still prefer the wings from 23 Jumpin..

Crispy Calamari Rings ($6.5),  deep fried squid, you can never go wrong with this..

S’more Waffle ($7.5), the perfect dessert to end the meal.. Fluffy warm waffle drizzled with chocolate sauce and topped off by a generous scoop of smooth vanilla ice cream and burnt marshmallows.. How perfect can a dessert be?

THE VERDICT: 

All in all, the food and drinks was exceptionally and surprisingly good considering the low price we paid for.. The total bill came up to only $56.20 for the humongous feast we had.. What’s more, this diner don’t even charge for their services and tax is bear by them alone.. Totally worth a visit or two if you haven’t been here already!!
