Osaka, Kyoto & Nara Trip - Part 4

The 4th day was a gloomy one as it was raining steadily for most part of the day and it slowed down our itinerary until we missed our chance to visit the Ramen Museum and went for a ride on the HEP5 Ferris Wheel instead.

Started our day with a plate of 12 takoyakis @ 450yen a short distance away from our AirBnB. It was not bad, nothing extraordinary but the service was good and the staff was most friendly. Took ourselves to the famed Osaka Castle amidst the drizzling rain after we fed our tummies. Mind you, it's a long walk of close to 20mins even from the nearest station (Tanimachi-4-chome Station) so make sure you have on a pair of good walking shoes.

The sight of Osaka Castle was most beautiful even with barren tree branches in the foreground instead of very pregnant ones with pink petals of sakura.

We had to hide from the rain that fell heavier in big fat droplets hence we headed into the former Osaka City Museum building situated just on the side of the castle as we weren't interested to go into the castle. The former museum was European-like in architecture and was built in 1931 as an army headquarters. There were many eateries, souvenir stores and also a waiting area filled up with historical information on the walls.

Almost 2 hours later, we walked to Moronomiya Station to catch the Osaka Loop line and passed through a scenery that looks like it comes from Korea dramas.

Stopped by Kobeya Fresh Bakery at the station as the fragrance of buns and pastries enticed us in for a snack. You can go for takeaway or even sit down to enjoy your freshly baked goods.

885yen for a peach pocket, apple pastry and cheese bread
On top of the rain that held us back at the castle area and dilly dallying, by the time we made it to Osaka Station to change for Hankyu line at Umeda Station, it was already too late for us to head to Momofuku Ando Instant Ramen Museum as the last admission is at 3.30pm.

The Cupnoodles Musuem is a perfect place for you if you have children or if you would like to have a hand-made souvenir. The entrance fee is free and you can customize a cupnoodle of your choice at 300yen each.

To make up for my disappointment, A who has a fear of heights suggested we tryout the nearby Hep Five Ferris Wheel. Hep Five shopping mall is one of Umeda's landmarks as this mall geared to the younger generation boasts a red ferris wheel attached to it's roof.

The tickets for the ferris wheel can be purchased at the ticketing machine just outside the entrance of the ride.

Each ticket costs 500yen and admits 1 pax (adult). Elementary students and below can ride for free :)

Us in the air-conditioned gondola ^^
After a ride and some light shopping, we headed in search of our long awaited dinner, Yakiniku buffet! There are numerous yakiniku buffet restaurants within Umeda area but most requires reservation unless you are prepared to wait hours as they are almost always fully booked. We did not know that beforehand so we were surprised when the 2 stores we went to were fully booked with a waiting line too even though it was only 5.30pm on a Monday. Lesson well learnt!

On our third attempt of random walking to hunt for all-you-can-eat Yakiniku, we found Kashin. It's on the second floor and the staff was most friendly. We took the Deluxe Course that consists of more than 100 food items that gives us 90mins to chow down all we can. Basically, we chose this set because there's free flow Wagyu  ooh la la

You must be wondering why on earth do i order nuggets and tofu, well I love them, haha

A grilling yummy beef for us both
It only costs us 8122 yen in total. That's like $100SGD only for unlimited wagyu among free flow pork, chicken, and vege, too for 2 adults!! How worth it is that?

PS: I actually read reviews online only after we visited this restaurant and I find that the reviews don't do this store justice. To be honest, food was served very quickly, the staff was most friendly and helpful and the place is really clean.

And that's the end for Day 4 because winter wears people out quickly haha.
